Theme: For We Know That Things Can Change On this 6th anniversary of his encyclical letter ‘Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home, Pope Francis invites us to participate in Laudato Si Week and asks the question, “What kind of world do you want to leave for those who come after us?”. In Laudato Si', Pope Francis writes that "each year sees the disappearance of thousands of plant and animal species which we will never know, which our children will never see because they have been lost forever. The great majority become extinct for reasons related to human activity. Because of us, thousands of species will no longer give glory to God by their very existence nor convey their message to us. We have no such right" (Laudato Si', 33) He says, “I renew my urgent call to respond to the ecological crisis, the cry of the poor and the cry of the earth cannot continue. Let’s take care of creation, a gift of our good Creator God. Let’s celebrate Laudato Si’ week together.”
