WORLD DAY FOR GRANDPARENTS & THE ELDERLY

HONOURING OUR ELDERS: For many older people, hope is not found in what lies ahead, but in the way they live each day. Life often takes unexpected turns. They face quiet challenges like loneliness, illness and loss, yet many move forward with quiet dignity. Each day they rise, care for their homes, cherish memories of loved ones and find meaning in the small things. This inner strength gives them the courage to meet each day with hope and persevere through life’s difficulties. The theme for 2025 reminds us: “Blessed are those who have not lost hope.” It celebrates the steady resilience of those who keep going, even as life’s pace changes. It reflects the enduring spirit of grandparents and the elderly who share their journeys, maintain their faith and continue to offer love, care and compassion. This day is not just about looking back, it’s about recognising the present value and dignity of every older person. Their presence in our lives is a blessing. Their hope for us is a gift. Their love for us is unconditional.
