On the Australia Day weekend, Catholics across Australia will be invited to contribute to a national collection for the assistance of victims of the current terrible bushfires in the eastern States. Rather than duplicate collections, the Australia Day Collection will given to the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal.
Church agencies across a range of levels are heavily involved assisting people locally at this terrible time. Interested parishioners could read the Statement by Archbishop Mark Coleridge, President of the Australian Catholic Bishops’’ Conference for further information (catholic.org.au).
Parishioners who would like to make a donation before the Australia Day weekend could do so to the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal directly (donate.vinnies.org.au) or at one of the Vinnies shops if there is one in their town. God bless, Bishop Gerard.
There is also a copy of the Statement by Archbishop Mark Coleridge in the foyer of each church and in the Parish Office for those without internet access.
