The Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is not only a very old devotion in our Church, but one that highlights the fundamental mystery of the Holy Eucharist– that our Lord is truly present, body and blood, soul and divinity in the Blessed Sacrament. Devotions which focus on the Blessed Sacrament aid in our spiritual union with our Lord. As Jesus said, “I myself am the Bread of Life. No one who comes to me shall ever be hungry, no one who believes in me shall ever thirst” (John 6:35).
A Beginners Guide
While visiting our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration, we can pray in a variety of different ways. Here are some suggestions: 1. Pray the Psalms or the Liturgy of the Hours
2. Recite the "Jesus Prayer" 3. Meditate using Scripture 4. Read the life of a saint and pray with him or her 5. Pour out your heart to Christ and adore Him 6. Ask for forgiveness and intercede for others 7. Pray the Rosary 8. Sit quietly and just "be" in the presence of God
