Every day, in popular media, and in public conversation, one hears the names,GodandJesus Christ, used as exclamations or even as profanity. We are proposing a small practice that Christians can adopt to help counter such trivialisation of the Lord’s name.
If someone says profanely or casually, “Oh my God”, we can respond, “Have mercy”. And if someone says profanely or casually, “Jesus Christ”, we can respond, “Lord and Saviour”. Such responses, either offered out loud with charity or quietly, will serve to convert casual or profane utterances into a moment of prayer.
We encourage you to do two things:1. Adoptthissmallpracticeinyourownday-to-daylife.2. Spread the word about this campaign with others, either
by word of mouth, or by sharing the video or the
campaign website.God willing, this practice will help plant seeds of a renewal of respect for the Lord in our culture. And if nothing else, it will help prevent our own souls from becoming numb to the trivialisation of our Lord’s name, and will offer a small gesture of love to our God and Saviour.
