Pope Francis released through the week (on the Feast of Assisi), a new document urging dramatic action to combat climate change. In the document he addresses the situation of climate change because "a human being who pretends to take the place of God becomes the worst danger to himself". He writes, “Despite all attempts to deny, conceal, gloss over or relativise the issue, the signs of climate change are here and increasingly evident.” Pope Francis invites us to walk in communion, together, synodically, and to commit ourselves to "reconciliation with the world that shelters us". It should be read in conjunction with the Holy Father’s previous encyclical Laudato Si. Laudate Deum can be found on the Vatican website:
