THIS SUNDAY CHILDREN FROM THE PARISH are making their commitment prior to their receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on 20 August. Pope Francis’ wrote in his final sentence of his World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly message: Those young people are God’s answer to your prayers, the fruits of all that you have sown, the sign that God does not abandon his people, but always rejuvenates them with the creativity of the Holy Spirit. (He could be referring to our own children here now, as well as those travelling to the World Youth Day, couldn’t he?) Please let us keep them in our prayers during these days of their preparation and pray they will be witnesses to Christ wherever they be, throughout their lives.
