ST. VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS APPEAL
Parishioners are, once again, invited to contribute to the SVdP Annual Christmas Appeal. The provision of Christmassy and other food items would be greatly appreciated. Lists of suggested items are shown with the baskets at both our churches. If you prefer to offer a cash donation, envelopes are available at the rear of the churches – these can be placed in the collection baskets at Mass . The need this year has been enormous – in the past three months we have given out over

“HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME”
Every day, in popular media, and in public conversation, one hears the names, God and Jesus Christ , used as exclamations or even as profanity. We are proposing a small practice that Christians can adopt to help counter such trivialisation of the Lord’s name. If someone says profanely or casually, “Oh my God” , we can respond, “Have mercy” . And if someone says profanely or casually, “Jesus Christ” , we can respond, “Lord and Saviour” . Such responses, either offered out loud

WHY WE DO THE THINGS WE DO
In these prayers (also called the General Intercessions) the congregation intercedes for all humanity. We pray that the Church will be a life-giving sign of salvation to the world. We pray for Church leaders and public authorities, for those oppressed by various needs, and for all people. In making these petitions we are conscious that the Church exists for others rather than for its own sake. United at the eucharistic table as the body of Christ, we are powerfully equipped t

NOVEMBER MASSES
The month of November each year is a time when we especially remember in our prayers all those who have died. All masses celebrated during November are offered for the repose of the souls of all the faithful departed. During this time, we have remembrance boxes on the sanctuaries of both our churches which you may place inside a November mass offering envelope with the name of departed loved ones. Please note that individual mass intentions are not offered during November, as

REFLECTIONS
Jesus walks into the Temple and finds that something sacred has lost its focus. The Temple, meant to be a place of prayer, had become busy, noisy, and distracted. With passion and purpose, Jesus clears it out and calls people back to what really matters – the presence of God. It’s a powerful moment, and it’s one that still speaks to us today. Because sometimes our own lives, our homes, and even our hearts can start to feel a bit like that Temple – crowded with noise, busyness

JUBILEE CORNER
AN EXCERPT: SPES NON CONFUNDIT - JUBILEE YEAR 2025 #25. In our journey towards the Jubilee, let us return to Scripture and realise that it speaks to us in these words: “May we who have taken refuge in him be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us. We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain, where Jesus, a forerunner on our behalf, has entered” (Heb 6:18-20). Those words are a forceful encoura
